Wild elephant attack: One killed in Assam, 5 loses life within a month

Guwahati News Desk: One man died in a wild elephant attack at Duliajan on Wednesday.

The incident took place at the Dehing Patkia National Park near Charaipong Dangoria Thaan in Duliajan.

According to the sources, the identity of the deceased person is still unknown. Multiple wild elephant attack cases has been reported in the State.

Earlier, in a tragic incident a man, identified as Jama was trampled to death by an elephant near Bhima Sankar Temple at Basistha area in Guwahati City.

Againin Karbi Anglong, a person named Usharam Rongi was killed by a wild elephant at Dokmoka village.

One more person was killed earlier at Jagun in the Tinsukia district near Kathachema Ghat in Burhidihing river when an elephant came out from the protected forest area and killed the man near his home who was identified as Louis Orang.

Recently, a woman and her 8-year-old child were also killed by an elephant at the Bagidhala Tea garden in Numaligarh. The deceased were identified as Rita Tanti and Rupam Tanti.

On June 10, a 10-year-old boy was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Bokakhat in Golaghat district in the forest area near Mikirchang Bagicha village. The boy was identified as Dip Rawtia, son of Samara Rawtia of Mikirchang tea garden.

The conflict between man and elephant has suddenly increased across the State due to human habitation as animals are losing their personal space and fall short of food too.
