Guwahati News Desk: Canada has decided to return the idol of Devi Annapurna to India.

The announcement was made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Maan Ki Baat on Sunday.

The old idol was stolen from a temple of Varanasi around 100 years ago somewhere around 1913.

The idol was smuggled off from the country by gangs which was later sold in the international market at a very high price.
