Guwahati News Desk: Silchar to get its second airport at Dolu Tea Estate. Assam Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma, on January 21 at Silchar, states that the Assam Government will consider the best interest of the tea garden workers and ensure that neither their residences nor their livelihood is hampered due to the construction in doing so.
The proposal for the airport will be submitted to the Centre in two to three weeks’ time, CM added.
Unlike the existing one at Kumbhirgam, the new airport is going to be a civil airport, about 25 kilometres from Silchar, which belongs to the Indian Air Force.
The proposed airport will be developed on 870 acres of land acquired from the Dolu Tea Estate.
