Guwahati News Desk: Two people were killed by an elephant at the Bagidhala Tea garden in Numaligarh on Monday.

According to the source, the incident took place at around 4 am as a woman and an 8-year-old child was killed in a sudden attack.

The deceased were identified as Rita Tanti and Rupam Tanti.

Soon after the incident, the victims were immediately admitted to Golaghat Hospital but later passed away.

The Numaligarh Forest Department rushed on the spot and tactfully managed the situation. The elephant reportedly destroyed houses in the tea garden.

It is said during the monsoon season, the wild animals come out from forest area for food which leads to destruction of houses sometimes.
