Guwahati News Desk: Bronze medallist winner at Tokyo Olympics boxer Lovlina Borgohain was warmly welcomed by Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati on Thursday morning.
Assam Sports Minister Bimal Bora was also present during the welcome ceremony which was held at Guwahati Airport at around 9 am.
Welcome hoardings and banners were installed across the city for Lovlina.
According to the sources, the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has introduced a customised chartered bus which will take Lovlina Borgohain to her home town in Golaghat district.
A felicitation programme has also been organised at the Sankardeva Kalashetra by the State government and a huge rally to take place in the city.
Meanwhile, Lovlina Borgohain to return to her hometown in Borpothar on August 17 after attending a special programme on Independence Day at the national capital on August 15.
The government of Assam will recommend her name for Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. The State government will offer a rank of APS or ACS for making the State proud at the Tokyo Olympics and also awarded her with Rs 50 lakh.
