Guwahati News Desk: Duliajan Numaligarh pipeline Limited (DNPL) stated by December 2022, capital city Guwahati will get piped gas supply. Chairman of Duliajan Numaligarh Pipeline Limited (DNPL) Rupam Goswami said that work is on to bring the gas line to Guwahati and by December next year Guwahati will get piped gas.
Consortium of three Public sector units, Assam Gas Company Ltd (AGCL), Oil India Limited (OIL) and GAIL Ltd has incorporated a new company for implementation of the City Gas Distribution (CGD) Networks.
The National Gas Grid Pipeline (Urja Ganga Project) which was originally planned for extension from Jagadishpur in Western Uttar Pradesh, to Haldia in West Bengal, was consented to be extended to Guwahati in Assam, by the Government of India through an intermediate spur line from Barauni in Bihar to Guwahati and the Gas Pipeline construction work is being carried out by GAIL India Limited.
According to state government the connection of Assam to the National Gas Grid, steady supply of Natural Gas shall initiate a spurt in the industrial sector, power generation sector, automotive CNG sector and domestic piped gas to households’ sector and it will act as a catalyst to trigger immense development and employment opportunities throughout Assam and other parts of Northeast Region.
The 14 Annual General Meeting of DNP Limited was held recently. DNPL’s gross revenue from operations was Rs 101.05 crores for the year 2020-2021 and the Company recorded a 14.58% increase in profit after tax (PAT) for the year 2020-21 at Rs 40.69 crores as against Rs. 35 42 crores recorded in 2019-20.
The Company has declared a dividend of 6.00% (Rs 0.60) per paid up equity share of Rs 10.00 each on the paid-up share capital for the financial year ended March 31, 2021 amounting to Rs 10 each on the paid-up share capital for the financial year ended March 31, 2021 amounting to Rs 10.04 Crores.
DNPL is a Government of Assam incorporated in the year 2007. It is joint venture Company of Assam Gas Company Limited (AGCL-51%), Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL-26 %) & Oil India Ltd (23%) engaged in the business of transportation of Natural Gas from Duliajan to NRL, Numaligarh. During the year the Company transported 300.14 Million Metric Standard Cubic Meters (MMSCM) of Natural Gas to NRL as against 269.24 MMSCM transported in the previous year. Utilization of the pipeline was higher by 11.48% in 2020-21 compared to the previous year.
