Indian army officer shoots self in Srinagar

Guwahati News Desk: An Indian army officer committed suicide by shooting himself in Srinagar, on Wednesday.
The officer, identified as Lieutenant Sudeep Baghat Singh, took his life with his service rifle at an army depot in the Khonmoh area of the city.

On hearing the gunshots, some soldiers rushed to the spot and found him in a pool of blood, an official added.

However, the doctors declared that he was brought dead when he was shifted to hospital.

The cause for the extreme step was not yet known.

This incident took the toll of such deaths among Indian troops and police personnel in the India occupied territory, Jammu and Kashmir to 491 since January 2007.
