Guwahati News Desk: Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants were killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
As informed by the Director-General (DG) Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), Dilbag Singh, Saturday’s encounter between the two LeT militants and the security forces took place in the Chowgam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Meanwhile, the slain militants have been identified to be Sajad Ahmad Check from Braripora, Shopian, and Raja Basit Nazir from Achan, Pulwama.
According to sources, it was in the wee hours of Saturday, when a joint team of police and the Army had launched a cordon and search operation in the Chowgam area.
Moreover, as the joint team of police approached the suspected spot, the militants hiding in the area fired upon the forces, that triggered the encounter.
