Guwahati News Desk: Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated new COVID Care Hospital at Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati on Thursday in the presence of State Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta.
The COVID Care Hospital consists of 300 bed which act as an alternative to Gauhati Medical College & Hospital.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has played a vital role in setting up the critical project which also is a fine example of centre-state collaboration in fighting COVID-19 in Assam.
The estimated cost of setting up the hospital is Rs 21.46 crore as this project will strengthen the COVID management capabilities.
The new COVID hospital will have a life span of 5 years which also has options to extend as it will have the facility of 100 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds.
The administration to install an oxygen facility in the rest remaining 200 beds.
The hospital also enables a liquid oxygen tank to ensure continuous oxygen supply to patients.
