Guwahati News Desk: Around 447 tourists were rescued by Indian Army from the high reaches near the India-China border at Nathu La Pass from the sudden heavy snowfall on Thursday.
The tourists were rescued from Nathu La – Gangtok road where they were stuck at zero temperature. Around 155 vehicles of tourists were stuck at over 15 kms.
The tourists were rescued in army vehicles and later accommodated inside the barracks of 17 Mile Military camp and provided food and medical support. During the major snowfall, 26 tourists were hospitalized who received critical medical support.
According to the sources, none of the tourists received major injuries or causalities.
