Guwahati News Desk: In a suspected witch-hunting case, a 50-year-old man beaten to death by a group of villagers at Baksa district in Assam on Monday.
The incident took place at Bogoribari village near Tamulpur, around 80 km from Guwahati.
According to the sources, the villages accused the man of witchcraft after a meeting and beat the man to death.
The villagers tried to attack the police team but somehow the team managed to control the situation and detained five accused for interrogation. The victim was immediately admitted to the nearest government hospital but later died.
The villagers have also destroyed the house of the victim.
A case has been registered by the victim’s wife against the villagers.
