Guwahati News Desk: Keshab Mahanta, Assam’s Minister of Health and Family Welfare, said on Monday that a super speciality centre will be created at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital soon. At a news conference today, the health minister announced that construction on the facility will begin in February 2022. According to the Assam health minister, patients are urged to register their names online once the super speciality hospital is functioning. “Hospital managers can hire temporary employees who will be paid at the same rate as government employees.” “Every effort has been made to ensure that the patients’ therapy is as painless as possible,” Keshab Mahanta said.

In response to complaints about the hospital’s inefficiencies, the minister indicated that the time for MRI, CT Scan, and other tests will be prolonged, and double shifts will be instituted. “From now on, the hospital staff will make every effort to test each patient every day.” The testing of general folks will continue till 10 p.m. In addition, the surgery time has been prolonged. According to the health minister, the general public would be eligible for surgery after passing all tests within five days.

Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Rameswar Teli recently inaugurated the construction of a 200-bed Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Model Hospital in the Beltola district. The idea to build the hospital, which is expected to cost Rs 143 crore, was approved by the ministry of labour and employment, according to Teli. ] According to Teli, the Assam government has approved the proposal to transfer the ESI Hospital in Tinsukia to ESIC, and the facility will soon provide people with modern and better medical services through ESIC, which is part of the labour department.

He went on to say that the Narendra Modi government has created ESIC programmes in six more Assam districts, including Kokrajhar, Baksa, Hojai, Charaideo, Dima Hasao, and Hailakandi. The ESIC COVID-19 Relief Scheme, Teli stated, was launched this year to provide help and relief to the insured’s families. “Under the initiative, many lakhs of rupees have been paid for various claims in Assam,” he added.
