Guwahati News Desk: A truck driver from Assam was killed at West Jaintia Hills in Meghalaya on Monday. The deceased was identified as Alak Das who hails from Duhalia village in Karimganj district in Assam.
According to the sources, a person was immediately arrested by the West Jaintia Police on charges of the killing of the truck driver who belongs to Assam. An FIR was lodged by the representative of the Anup Truck Transport Pvt Ltd.
The West Jaintia Police has already started their investigation in connection with the killing of the driver. As per sources, it was said a group of unidentified person on an Alto car stopped the truck bearing registration number TR 01 AG 1689 and snatched it and two people drove it away and after the incident the truck driver was found missing.
The incident was reported at around 2.14 am on Monday as after the incident was reported the truck was followed till 4 Mile Mihmyntalu but failed to stop it as one person was nabbed immediately but one flew away. The body of the driver was found from the area from where the truck was lifted by the miscreants.
The truck was carrying 500 bags of raw rice belonging to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) as earlier the truck was loaded at FSD Changsari near Guwahati City on Saturday.
