Guwahati News Desk: Abducted ONGC employee Ritul Saikia crossed the Indian border in Mon district alongside the Nagaland-Myanmar border on Saturday.
Ritul Saika was abducted by the United Liberation Front of Asom- Independent (ULFA-I) and was released at the Indo-Myanmar border on Friday morning.
Saikia is currently under the custody of Assam Rifles and later he will be handed over to Assam Police in the Assam borders.
Saikia’s family thanked the ULFA-I Chief Paresh Baruah and Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma for his release after a couple of months.
Assam CM on Saikia’s release tweeted on Saturday, “Heartily welcome release of Ritul Saikia, ONGC employee abducted by ULFA, early today! Grateful to Honble UHM @AmitShah for constant guidance. Hope an era of peace & development is firmly established in the state with the cooperation of one and all. Pray to Almighty for His Blessings.”
