Guwahati News Desk: Five people were killed on spot during a head-on collision that took place at the Godharbodi area in Bolballa in the Goalpara district of Assam on December 2. At least five people were reportedly killed in a Goalpara road mishap when a Hyundai Eon bearing registration number AS 01 DU 1426 collided head-on with and Maruti Swift Dzire bearing registration number AS 23 6501. The deadly accident took place during the night hours on Thursday.
Police officials arrived at the spot of the accident after an hour of getting informed by the locals and an ambulance reached the accident site immediately after the car collision. It is reported that the situation is tense as the accident led to the death of 5 people on spot. Other information related to the accident is not yet known as investigation on the matter is still going on by the police officials. The identification of the deceased persons is yet to disclose.
Earlier in another Goalpara road accident that took place in the Rongjuli area, two people were killed and 30 others got severely injured. The road mishap occurred when a vehicle carrying passengers hit a roadside tree on National Highway 17. Later the two deceased were identified as Habibur Rahman and Matibur Rahman and other injured persons were hospitalized. In a road mishap in the Sarusajai area of Guwahati on the night of 30 November, one person was killed and one got injured as a truck hit a bike. The deceased person was later identified as Runu Das, a resident of Mathgharia.
There have been many similar road accidents reported in different districts of Assam therefore strict road management needs to be maintained by the government and traffic officials to prevent such hazardous road accidents.
