After Gauhati University and B. Borooah College, Dispur College now becomes the next Covid Hotspot

Guwahati News Desk: Six students, including a professor at Dispur College, have tested positive for Covid, even after the cases were discovered, the college continued with its pre-test examination. No action has been taken by the administration to close the college or cancel the exam. Meanwhile, the administration has been silent on the situation. Yesterday Six students at B Borooah College tested positive for Covid, and the respective college authority have not taken any action and earlier at Gauhati University (GU) students tested positive for the virus.

Following reports of a viral outbreak on campus, classes at the GU have been cancelled. Today, 6,984 new coronavirus infections were reported in India. According to the Union health ministry, the number of active cases in the country has decreased to 87,562. The number of active coronavirus infections in the country is currently 0.25 percent of the entire caseload, the lowest since March 2020, according to the ministry, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.38 percent, the highest since March 2020.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization has warned that the new Omicron coronavirus variation is spreading at an unprecedented rate, urging countries to take action, as drug maker Pfizer announced that their coronavirus pill is effective against the variant. In India, the Covid-19 vaccine coverage has reached 134.53 crore persons, with 81.91 crore receiving the first dose and 52.61 crore receiving the entire immunization. Over 55 percent of the country’s adult population has received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccination, according to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
