Guwahati News Desk: The Bangladesh government has extended the closure of the international land border with India till May 31.
The decision was announced on Saturday looking at the view of the COVID-19 situation in India.
Economic movement of goods will remain to continue as per government guidelines.
The Bangladeshi citizens currently in India were allowed to make movements through Benapole, Akhaura, Burimari Darshana, Hili and Sonamasjid.
The movement between the international border of both the countries was closed since April 26 amid rising COVID-19 cases in India and later it was extended for two weeks on May 8.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh reported new 1,028 COVID-19 positive cases with 38 deaths in the last 24 hours with a recovery rate of 92.65 per cent.
