Guwahati News Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested a senior official of North-Frontier Railway from Guwahati for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50 lakh.
Ranjit Bora, chief technical officer, electricity branch of North-Frontier Railway was arrested by the CBI officials on charges of demanding and accepting an alleged bribe of Rs 50 lakh from a firm.
Bora was arrested from his office at NF Railway headquarters at Maligaon in Guwahati.
The central probe agency alleged that Bora demanded a bribe of Rs 2.50 crore from the firm for clearing the pending bills in respect to the contract agreement.
Based on specific information, the CBI laid a trap and caught Bora red-handed while accepting the bribe from a representative of the firm.
A CBI team also raided his residence at the Hengerabari area of the city. Details of which are still awaited.
