Guwahati News Desk: Guwahati City gearing up to celebrate this Durga Puja with guidelines issued by the government of Assam. However, unlike previous years the situation is different today. People aren’t allowed to move randomly in the pandals for worshipping goddess Durga.
Street vendors might not be available like before or people will try not to taste street foods due to rising cases of COVID-19 in the state. Citizens to miss creative idols crafted by talented artistans, some of which holds the best mandap record in the city. The ice cream vendors, the balloons seller including the fast food vendors might be missing this puja.
Preparation this year will be completely under guidelines which made mandatory of wearing of mask, sanitization and maintaining physical distance of 6ft. The rush like earlier puja will be missed in this year.
During a conversation with Hello Guwahati, citizens shared their views on celebration of Durga Puja. Most people are not interested in buying new clothes or luxuries and others lament the untimely demise of their loved ones in this COVID pandemic.
