Guwahati News Desk: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday announced various developmental projects in Guwahati. He also reiterated that the ongoing construction of some of these projects is being carried out speedily.
CM Sarma made the announcements during the inauguration ceremony of the new ‘Art-Bridge’ that was constructed in the city’s Supermarket area.
Here are the key projects the CM talked about:
Firstly, the Construction of the Guwahati-North Guwahati Bridge is being carried out speedily and will be completed by 2023, the CM assured. Construction of two more bridges at Maligaon and Sarabhati is well underway. While the construction of the Maligaon Bridge is 20 percent done, the Sarabhati flyover is about 35 percent done. Unlike the newly inaugurated bridge at Supermarket, the Maligaon flyover will have four lanes and two-four lanes below it.
A new flyover will be constructed in Guwahati’s R G Baruah road connecting Gitanagar, the planning for the same is underway. Moreover, a new flyover will also be constructed in the city’s Chandmari area alongside the already existing iconic Chandmari Flyover. The plans of this ministry in terms of urban development are ambitious, to say the least.
Now coming to other projects planned state-wide, an AIIMS hospital is to be constructed within this financial year adding to the already existing government medical infrastructure of the state which is a commendable step upfront.
Other than that, a six-lane ring road is being discussed which will connect Assam’s Sipajhar and Kuruwa aiding long-distance travel. Lastly, a total of four bridges will be constructed as planned across the mighty river Brahmaputra.
