Guwahati News Desk: United States presidential candidate Joe Biden has pledged that he would rejoin the historic Paris Agreement on climate change once he forms the government.
According to latest projections released by the US media, Biden has gained 253 electoral votes out of the required 270 while US President Donald Trump has got 214 electoral votes.
Trump government on November 4, formally withdrew from the 2015 Paris Agreement on Climate Change, a decision originally announced three years ago.
Biden, 77, in his tweet after the exit wrote, “Today, the Trump Administration officially left the Paris Climate Agreement. And in exactly 77 days, a Biden Administration will rejoin it.”
To combat climate change Biden also has proposed a USD 5 trillion plan.
The US follows China in carbon dioxide emissions globally.
