Guwahati News Desk: Human Rights Law Network (North East), Socio Legal Information Centre and Centre for Constitutional Rights in collaboration with 62 NGOs organised a three-day convention on ‘Human Rights and the Law in the Northeast’ at Don Bosco Institute, Kharguli Guwahati from December 11.The Convention discussed issued related to Fake Encounter and Extrajudicial killing in the Northeast, Climate Change, Land Acquisition, Prison Rights, Minority Rights, Women and Child Rights, LGBQTI Rights and Health Rights during Covid.
Several prominent social activists, advocates, environmentalists, educationalists, doctorate and journalists attended the programme.
From Manipur as many as 10 delegates attended the convention where families of victims of fake encounters, displaced by dam projects and denied land compensation shared their grievances and many plan of action for PIL were discussed.
The recent at Oting village in Mon district, Nagaland was also deliberately upon and decision was taken for HRLN Nagaland unit to intervene on the issue.
