The market was officially inaugurated on 1st October 2020, even though it was functional previously in a phased manner due to the maintaining the COVID19 standard operating procedure.
The market aims to provide access to the farmers; however, it will also create a sustainable backyard linkage with vendors to the end consumers, who are looking for affordable and healthy products. In addition to the farmers of East Khasi Hills, the market will cater to the needs of the farmers from other districts as well. The initiative to establish the farmers market is taken by Parksiar Agro Services an Agri startup.
The startup is functional in food processing and marketing agriculture produce under the name of “Parksiar Gardens”. The startup is presently incubated with NEATEHUB the agribusiness incubator of Assam Agricultural University.
In a world battered by COVID19 when people are looking for organic, pesticide-free nutritious products, the farmers market will definitely cater to those needs to an extent. The farmers also will be able to reach their consumers directly as the market not only boost their finances but will also facilitate personal connection and bonds of mutual benefits between farmers, shoppers, and communities.
Very good flatform market and chances of meeting farmers, buyers and sellers of different regions.
