Guwahati News Desk: The GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) has asked the owners of shopping malls and cinema halls not to charge parking fees in their respective premises. A top official of GMC said, “It is not justified for the mall and cinema hall owners to charge extra parking fees from their customers. On the other hand, the former should provide the parking slots to their clients.” The source added, “Strict action will be taken against anyone violating this rule.”
There is further good news for the people of Guwahati. Out of 52 parking places in the city, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) on Saturday made 43 parking places free. These parking places are for public use. This is a step taken as a continuation to GMC’s appeal for free parking in Malls and Cinema halls.
The GMC took this decision to ensure that parking mafias do not charge extra money in the name of parking. People will now have to pay for parking their cars and two-wheelers in only nine parking places.
These are – Cotton Collegiate School Road parking; Dr JC Das Road parking; HB Road (from Baptist Church to Dr JC Das Road junction, Baptist Church side, Angular parking; RP Road (from Infashion to Life Line Medicos, parallel parking); Ganeshguri Flyover; Adabari Bus Terminus; Bhangagarh Flyover; Basement Parking at Fancy Bazar Market Complex; HB Road (From Khubchand point to Sikh Temple point, left side parallel parking, Fancy Bazar).
