Guwahati News Desk: After the completion of the ongoing flyover projects, Guwahati will undergo a never before an episode of development and growth in upcoming years.
The Supermarket flyover of 750 meters in length to connect Secretariat road to GS Road will help to reduce the traffic during the rush hours. The flyover has been constructed from the main entrance of Assam Secretariat connecting Down Town Hospital towards Six Mile.
The second flyover construction kicked off recently from Maligaon to Kamakhya Gate which will cover a distance of 2.9 km.
This longest flyover is a part of Guwahati Smart City Project constructed under the Public Works Department (PWD). The total budget of the projects is worth Rs 420.75 crore. The flyover is expected to be completed within the next three years.
The third ongoing bridge construction will connect Bharalu to North Guwahati over the mighty Brahmaputra river. A corridor to has been linked in the bridge connecting Santipur and Machkhowa.
The only road connecting to North Guwahati is the Saraighat Bridge via Jalukbari but the upcoming bridge will reduce the distance for the daily commuters to the city.
The project is undertaken by PWD and has been allotted with Rs 2,608 crore by the Government of Assam to complete the grand project. The flyover will directly connect to the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Changsari as the project is on the way to complete.
