Guwahati News Desk: Acting legend Cicely Tyson died on Thursday at age 96.
She bagged an Oscar nomination for her role as the sharecropper’s wife in ‘Sounder,’ a Tony Award at age 88 in 2013 and touched millions of TV viewers’ hearts in ‘The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman’.
Her family, via her manager Larry Thompson announced the death of the actor and stated, “With heavy heart, the family of Miss Cicely Tyson announces her peaceful transition this afternoon. At this time, please allow the family their privacy.”
Tyson’s memoir, “Just As I Am,” was published this week.
