Guwahati News Desk: The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati has signed an MoU with the Northeast Frontier Railways to work collaborate on research projects on April 23 in the field of structure, bridges, information technology, signalling, and safety assessment, etc.
The NFR which leads the northeastern states of Indian Railways was working on the projects to build up world-class stations across its region as the department expand its route network in the coming days with some districts of its neighbouring states like West Bengal and Bihar.
The MoU’s to work rolling stock, yards, train operations, and green technologies will lead to better services for the passengers of northeast India. According to the agreement, the IIT to help out NFR to build up the entire railway stations plastic-free by providing Biodegradable polymer technologies.
The MoU was signed between IIT Guwahati Dean of Research & Development Prof Vimal Katiyar and the Chief Planning and Design Engineer of NFR Yogesh Verma in presence of Director of IIT Guwahati Prof T.G. Sitharam.
