Guwahati News Desk: In the last Super 12 game of the ongoing T20 World Cup, India defeated Namibia by a total of 9 wickets, but failed to make their spot in the upcoming semi-finals.

The match took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday.

In Monday’s match, Namibia set India a target of 133 in 20 overs.

In response to which, KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma got India off to a flying start, as they took the score to 54/0 after the first 6 overs and registered yet another 50-run stand between them. This was the third consecutive fifty-plus stand between the two openers in the tournament.

In addition, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin picked three wickets each while Jasprit Bumrah got two wickets.

On the other hand, Namibia stuttered to 95/7 after 16 overs and eventually posted 132/8 in 20 overs.

Moreover, due to Afghanistan’s eight-wicket loss against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi on Sunday confirmed India’s exit from the tournament.

In addition, this match was Virat Kohli’s last game as T20I skipper. The Indian batting giant had captained the national side in 50 matches where he won 30 games. After this tournament, an era of Indian cricket under the head coach Ravi Shastri has also come to an end.

India will next take on New Zealand in the home series starting November 17.

The players of team India included of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami.

The players of team Namibia included of Stephen Baard, Michael van Lingen, Craig Williams, Gerhard Erasmus (c), David Wiese, JJ Smit, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Ruben Trumpelmann, Zane Green (wk), Jan Frylinck and Bernard Scholtz.

Eventually, the final score of the match between India and Namibia mounted up to India’s being 136/1 (15.2) and Namibia’s being 132/8 (20.0).

Furthermore, it was Ravindra Jadeja who was titled as the “Player of the Match”.
