Guwahati News Desk: In an unprovoked firing, an Indian fisherman was killed by Pakistan’s Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) on Saturday.

According to sources, the Indian man was shot dead after Pakistan’s forces fired at the boat.

The Superintendent of Police, Sunil Joshi, said, “A fisherman from Maharashtra, who was on a fishing boat ‘Jalpari’ was killed after the PMSA personnel opened fire on him and other crew members on Saturday evening.”

The body of the fisherman who was killed in the event, has been identified to be the 32-year-old Sridhar Ramesh Chamre, who belonged to Vadrai in Maharashtra’s Palghar district.

In addition, residents belonging to Chamre’s village were sincerely disheartened by the news of his demise.

As informed by the owner of the fishing boat, Jayantibhai Rathod, Chamre was in the cabin of the boat when he was hit by bullets. The owner said, “Three bullets hit him on the chest, following which he died. The captain of the boat was also injured in the indiscriminate firing by the Pakistani personnel.”

Moreover, the body of Chamre was brought to Okha port on Sunday and an FIR was filed with Navi Bandar police.

Furthermore, a second fisherman was also injured in Saturday’s incident and he is currently being treated at a hospital in Gujarat’s Okha.
