Guwahati News Desk: In a major development in the rave party case of Kharghuli in the residence of builder Vikas Jain, the investigating officer was immediately suspended by the police department on Sunday for alleged negligence in duty.
The officer-in-charge, ASI Taraprasad Singh of Latashil police station was suspended on the basis of order issued by the Guwahati Commissioner of Police Harmeet Singh.
On Friday, the Guwahati Police conducted a search operation against a resident of Kharghuli, Vikas Jain on charges of hosting a party.
Vikas is a city-based real-estate builder and during the raid, the police department seized cocaine and other contrabands.
Guwahati Police also arrested 18 people including Vikas and filed a case against them at Latashil Police Station. After the arrest was made, Guwahati Police said that the charges if proved will indicate the consumption of the drug in Guwahati. Assam Police is continuously standing tall in breaking down the connection of peddlers and eliminates the selling of drugs by raising war against drugs by the Assam Police.
Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted in terms of raid conducted by Guwahati Police against Vikas Jain, “Fights against drugs continue – @GuwahatiPol is now raiding a drugs party at Kharghuli. Operation is on Cocaine and different types of weed (ganja).”
The list of names released by the Guwahati Police on Friday are Vikas Jain (55), Nassif Ahmed (53), Sumit Kumar Beria (45), Chayan Saikia (32), Amit Pegu (53), Amit Baruah (45), Ashok Barman (35), Hirendra Sinha (38), Ridib Baruah (42), Siddhartha Barthakur (29), Bonamallika Choudhury (45), Rakesh Borgohian (46), Debajani Hazarika (34), Jubee Baruah (39), Nayanika Baruah (45), Debarshi Beria (45), Nimisha Bhuyan (45) and Pankaj Kakoty (47).
