Guwahati News Desk: Despite the grim scenario of the nation during the Covid crisis, the people of Guwahati seem to immensely utilise their quality time enjoying the Indian Premier League (IPL).
After the State administration released safety protocol due to COVID-19, all the business establishments, shops, markets places sharp at 6 pm need to shut down.
The scene is similar to the 2020 lockdown as the roads are empty as very few vehicles and people are witnessed as people are seen moving home early and spending time with their families or by watching IPL 2021.
While talking to a resident of the city, Bharati Baruah about her experience of using the curfew hours, she said, “I have specially asked my husband to install the Star Sports channel just to enjoy the IPL with my family as I have got nothing to do these evenings. Due to the virus, I could not attend any social events nor I can visit any of my relatives, so IPL has come to be a relief for homemakers like us.”
Whereas, Niranjan Saikia, another enthusiast of IPL loved that it’s been telecasted despite the second wave of coronavirus, as he could spend some quality time with his family.
“I loved the fact that I have got time to spend with my family but looking at the nation it is hard to believe that my nation is experiencing the cruelest of the times. Well, I thank IPL for telecasting as I have got my escape land from my busy schedule.”
