Guwahati News Desk: As insurgent violence mounts in the West African nation, jihadists over the weekend killed more than 100 civilians in Niger.
The attacks took place in two villages, viz., Tchombangou and Zaroumdareye on the same day that Niger announced that presidential elections would go to a second round on February 21.
On his visit to the villages, the Nigers Prime Minister Brigi Rafini said:
“We came to provide moral support and present the condolences of the president of the republic, the government and the entire Niger nation.”
The attacks were said to be the deadliest in Niger.
