Guwahati News Desk: With the rise in demand for Covid-19 vaccines in India, wastage now has become a headache for the government.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s (MoHFW) latest data, Lakshadweep has reported the highest with 22 percent wastage of the covid vaccine followed by Haryana with 6.65 percent and Assam wastes 6.07 percent.
Whereas Rajasthan has reported 5.50 percent wastage, Punjab reports 5.05 percent wastage and Bihar recorded 4.96 percent wastage.
On the other hand, Dadra and Nagar hit the sixth in the list with 4.93 percent vaccine wastage followed by Meghalaya (4.21 percent), Tamil Nadu (3.94 percent), and Manipur (3.56 percent).
So far the Centre has supplied more than 17.49 crore vaccine doses to states and UTs free of cost. The total consumption including wastages is 16, 65, 49, 583 doses.
