Guwahati News Desk: Milk price has been hiked by Rs 3 per litre from July 1 in Guwahati by the Greater Guwahati Dairy Farmers Association.
According to the sources, earlier, a litre of milk was brought at Rs 48 and sold at Rs 51 per litre in the wholesale market and the price of retails is Rs 53 per litre.
Currently, the milk was brought at Rs 51 per litre and the wholesale price is Rs 54 per litre and Rs 56 per litre in retail.
According to the sources, a total of 1.6 lakh litres of milk were sold in Guwahati in a day, and around 520 people are engaged in the milk business in the city.
After the increasing price of milk, it can be said that sweets, curd, butter, paneer and other milk products might see hike in the recent days.
It might be said that milk price increased due to hike in petrol and diesel prices and milk were supplied across the city using vehicles for home delivery.
The regularly increase in fuel prices has affected the essential markets too.
