Guwahati News Desk: An on-duty junior doctor was allegedly abused and assaulted by a group of people at Fultali Model Hospital in the Hojai district in Assam on Tuesday.
The incident took place at 10.am after a COVID-19 patient died in the hospital. The deceased was recorded as Giyasuddin from Udali area.
According to the sources, the relative of the deceased patient suddenly started to beat the doctor, Seuj Kumar Senapati including on-duty nurses with no mercy.
The video went viral in no time on social media, the miscreants were seen beating the hospital staff with slippers, steel plates, sticks, etc.
The mob also destroyed hospital property and damaged furniture along with medical essentials.
Soon after the incident, police officials rushed on the spot to rescue the doctor who sustained serious injuries was admitted to the hospital.
Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted on the incident, “Such barbaric attacks on our frontline workers won’t be tolerated by our administration. @gpsinghassam @assampolice Ensure that the culprits brought to justice.”
