Guwahati News Desk: Following a tipoff, a team of East Guwahati Police District from Basistha Police Station seized heroin and arrested three women during the last 24 hours.
During the period, city police under various police stations conducted several raids in different parts of the city. Sources informed that similar raids will continue during the night as well. In the first instance, Beharbari Police raided a rented house and arrested three women identified as Arju Begum, Rinkumoni Das and Neera Saha. Police recovered 31 grams of heroin filled in 22 plastic vials from their possession.
In another raid, a team of East Guwahati Police District from Dispur Police Station swooped down in two rented premises at Khanapara and arrested Giarul Hoque and Sitaram Thakur. The Police seized 3.04 kg of ganja and recovered 85 chillums from their possession.
On the other hand, in a joint operation of the SOG (special operation Group) of the Central Guwahati Police District, a team from the Noonmati Police Station and CRPF personnel raided an area at Milijuli Path here and arrested three persons. The trio has been identified as Rajib Amin, Monur Uddin and Rubul Ali.
The police recovered 20.79 of heroin, four mobiles, six plastic vials and Rs 2050 from their possession.
