Guwahati News Desk: The All Guwahati Cab Driver’s Union has staged a protest at Geetanagar on Wednesday against the giant taxi company Ola and Uber and decided to boycott the two companies from August 1.
The protest was staged by the cab union as Ola and Uber have deprived the drivers of getting their benefits.
After boycotting Ola and Uber, the cabs to join a newly developed cab service firm ‘PEINDIA’ from August 1.
The situation of the cab union becomes complicated with the giant taxi services that they have not received any assistance from the government during the pandemic and could not able to pay the EMI’s and many of them have to sell their cars.
According to the sources, around 10 thousand cab drivers were associated with Ola, Uber and many of them are now unemployed and the companies have yet not cleared long pending grievances.
During the ongoing protest, the leaders of the All Guwahati Cab Driver’s Union said that boycotting Ola and Uber decision was taken as they have not responded to the pending grievances which lead to a struggle for the drivers during the pandemic.
The newly launched company PEINDIA in which from August 1 all the cabs to join as its application is yet not available in the play store but to be developed soon.
