Guwahati News Desk: In their last Super 12 stage match of the ongoing T20 World Cup, New Zealand beat Afghanistan by eight wickets.

Chasing a total of 125 runs, New Zealand lost both the openers in the first 10 overs. However, the unbeaten 68-run partnership between skipper Kane Williamson and Devon Conway, guided the team to victory and semi-final qualification.

The match took place at the the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

On the other hand, for Afghanistan, Najibullah Zadran anchored the innings with two crucial partnerships with Gulbadin Naib and skipper Mohammad Nabi to take his team past 100.

Moreover, New Zealand looked in control throughout the 125-run chase and romped home eventually with 11 balls to spare.

The players of team Afghanistan included of Hazratullah Zazai, Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi (c), Gulbadin Naib, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Hamid Hassan, Naveen Ul Haq and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

The players of team New Zealand included of Martin Guptill, Daryl Mitchell, Kane Williamson (c), Devon Conway (wk), Glenn Phillips, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Adam Milne, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi and Trent Boult.

Eventually, the final score of the match between Afghanistan and New Zealand mounted up to Afghanistan’s being 124/8 (20.0) and New Zealand’s being 125/2 (18.1).

Furthermore, it was Trent Boult who was titled as the “Player of the Match”.

Regarding the match between Pakistan and Scotland, Pakistan thrashed Scotland by 72 runs.

The match took place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on Sunday.

After posting a fierce 189/4 from their 20 overs, Pakistan restricted Scotland to 117/6 in 20 overs to clinch a comprehensive victory.

In addition, it was Mohammad Hafeez who applied the finishing touches to the innings with his quick-fire 16-ball 32.

Moreover, Pakistan will now be facing Australia in the semi-finals.

On the other hand, Scotland could only manage 117 for six in 20 overs.

In addition, Scotland have not tasted a single win in the Super 12 stage after impressive performances in the previous round.

The players of team Pakistan included Mohammad Rizwan(w), Babar Azam(c), Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi.

The players of team Scotland included of George Munsey, Kyle Coetzer(c), Matthew Cross(w), Richie Berrington, Dylan Budge, Michael Leask, Chris Greaves, Mark Watt, Hamza Tahir, Safyaan Sharif and Bradley Wheal.

Eventually, the final score of the match between Pakistan and Scotland mounted up to Pakistan’s being 189/4 (20.0) and Scotland’s being 117/6 (20.0).

Furthermore, it was Shoaib Malik who was titled as the “Player of the Match”.
