Sukalpa Dhar: Personality is the sum total of all the qualities of a person’s character which makes the person stand out from the crowd. There are five parameters which describes an individual’s personality. These five parameters are also known as the ‘Big Five’ Factor. The Five Factor Model (FFM) was first proposed by Costa & McCrae in the year 1992. The five factors are (i) Neuroticism (N) (ii) Extraversion (E) (iii) Openness (O) (iv) Agreeableness (A) and (v) Conscientiousness (C).
Robert R. McCrae and Paul T.Costa Jr. together wrote a book named ‘Personality in Adulthood : A Five-Factor Theory Perspective’. This book depicts how enduring traits affect the process of ageing and shape the course of one’s life.

There are innumerable ways through which one can develop one’s personality. According to me some of the things which can help one develop one’s personality are (1) standing infront of a mirror and practice (2) make eye to eye contact (3) choose simple day to day objects or topics to create content (4) never forget to KISS (5) develop the capacity of punning (6) keep all your sense organs active (7) have a quick presence of mind (8) be humorous (9) read more and more books (10) shun your bad habits (11) be tech savvy but never be a tech worm (12) it is always best to be a book worm rather than a tech worm. Books always provide us with accurate knowledge. It boosts our confidence and uplifts our capacity. Books support us with backups for our presentations, (13) Meditation (14) Good Friends, (15) avoid unnecessary repetition of words.
There are two forms of writing one is opinion and another is analytical. At times we can also find a blending of both these styles in a single article or in one single book. While we perform or present a topic, news, cultural item etc we should always start with a bang with our eyes in the camera. We shouldn’t put much pause in between the topics because we should always remember that the action has already started and the camera is rolling. If we put much gap the viewers will get bored very soon and in case of television they will switch to other channels and in case of live shows they will leave the ground or hall.
Confidence always plays a big role. Meeting with more and more positive minds rejuvenates us. Always avoid negativity. Make more and more friends. Never keep an idle mind because we all know that ‘an idle mind is the devil’s workshop’. Never expect anything because expectation might bring frustration. Just keep on creating. It may be websites, contents, music, jingles etc. Never hesitate to share your content with the world. You never know it might click somewhere someday. As we get innumerable permutations and combinations in musical notes in the same way the choice of the people has varied likings in every topic say it food, books, television channels, etc.

Individual freedom is the main essence of India. Books, television channels and our day to day interaction with our society help us build our own character. If we read properly at least one single book of any specific author we will be able to know the author’s mindset a lot. This will also provide an edge to our intellect. God has provided us with five sense organs with the help of which we receive the waves of sound, taste of food, have a glance, feelings and smell. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. So whatever we do we need to think twice and then perform the task. The book ‘Why I am A Liberal: A Manifesto for Indians Who Believe in Individual Freedom’ (2018) by Sagarika Ghose, one of India’s most noted journalists, an author and broadcaster, gives us a clear idea of what is freedom and liberty.

Nowadays there are many books which can be found in the market which assures us that it will help us to master our soft skills but among them the one which has become very popular within a very short span of time is a book named ‘Beyond Soft Skills’ authored by Nurul Islam Laskar. On 13th March, 2022 ‘The Stars of North East India’ (SONEI), a charitable public trust, organised the 11th talk called ‘Star Talks’ at Guwahati. The book ‘Beyond Soft Skills’ was ceremoniously released on the occasion. Mr. Nurul Islam Laskar is a motivational speaker and public relation consultant. According to the author, his new book ‘Beyond Soft Skills’ is a compendium of knowledge which will make it’s readers very developed by elevating one’s character and one’s personality upto great heights. It deals with politeness, compassion, helpfulness, how one should behave while in a crowd and how to become a leader.

Visibility plays a pivotal role in everyone’s life. Now, in the era of social media news is flowing like a stream of water. Many of us are media content creators. We create videos for our YouTube channels. Whenever we share our creativity with the world our capacity and confidence increases upto many folds. We need to give our mind and brain that space where it can move freely without any restrictions who knows it can come up with new and innovative ideas which might lead to new creations or innovations. At the same time we should be very careful about our image because image building is one aspect but sustaining the image is always a bigger task to maintain. If one’s image is lost no one will believe and in that case one will loss trust which may eventually lead to total bankruptcy. So if one has a good personality then the person will never have to face these kinds of problem in one’s life but even though in the beginning he might face some troubles but eventually he will definitely overcome his failures and come out successfully with flying colours.
