Guwahati News Desk: The Kachutali village of Sonapur under Kamrup Metro has been adopted as ‘Giloy village’ jointly by the Environment and Forest department, Sonapur SF Range under Guwahati SF Division and PNRD.
The officials of Forest and Environment and PNRD has distributed giloy saplings to the people of the village on Thursday.
The forest officials have urged the people to cultivate giloy commercially which has rich medicinal values and a big demand across the market.
The giloy which is also said to be the powerhouse of antioxidants helps to free radicals and keep cells healthy by eliminating toxins, purifies the blood, fight bacteria that causes diseases and combats liver diseases and urinary tract infections.
The medicine plant can be cultivated throughout the tropical regions which include India extending from Kumaon to Assam and Myanmar, Bihar, Konkan to Sri Lanka.
