Guwahati News Desk: Students of Pondicherry University staged a protest under the Student’s Federation of India (SFI) in front of the campus demanding to reopen the campus which was closed down on March 2020.
The Student Council has filed a complaint to the university administration requesting to reopen the campus while students received no response have received to the request. This led the student community to move ahead with a protest.
The protest was inaugurated by Jai Prakash SFI central committee member as he questioned the irresponsible act of the university by not opening the campus when all the educational institutions under Tamil Nadu government have already reopened.
Amidst all this havoc the university denies entry to students in the name of a pandemic but keeps on forcing them to pay the fees for sports, laboratory, and lab facilities, to which they don’t even have access.
All Central universities except Pondicherry University have already opened or have released notification regarding reopening.
The protest demanded to reopen the campus after providing vaccination to all the students. Faisal Banna- Pondicherry University unit secretary presided the protest.
According to the sources, due to increasing cases of COVID-19 cases in Kerala State the Pondicherry University was yet not open as the majority of the students belong. to Kerala.
