Guwahati News Desk: The Taliban rejected the allegations of abducting nearly 150 citizens from the Kabul airport.
The group was waiting to be evacuated from Afghanistan, when they were allegedly captured by the Taliban near the Kabul airport on Saturday.
Denying the accusations, the militant group said the people were only taken in for questioning.
Moreover, amongst the 150 people, the majority were said to be Indians.
As per the sources, the Taliban officials reportedly thrashed several of those waiting and took them to a nearby police station.
The Taliban spokesperson, Ahmadullah Waseq, rejected the claims of the abduction near the Kabul airport.
Waseq said, “The report about kidnapping is a rumour. The Taliban members are helping all foreign nationals to get access to the airport. We are determined to provide safe passage to all foreigners to get to the airport.”
He further added that the Taliban forces were escorting about 150 Indian citizens to safely enter the airport.
Many countries, including Germany and the United States, have been racing to get their citizens, as well as Afghan citizens, out of Afghanistan.
