Guwahati News Desk: On behalf of the extremist group, the Taliban spokesperson announced that, for them Pakistan is like their second home and that here is peace in Afghanistan.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, by the Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, while speaking at his first news conference in Kabul.
Announcing that Pakistan “is like a second home” for the insurgent group, Mujahid vowed to deepen trade and strategic ties with the neighbouring country.
Mujahid said, “Afghanistan shares its borders with Pakistan. We are traditionally aligned when it comes to religion, the people of both the countries mingle with each other. So we are looking forward to further deepening of ties with Pakistan.”
He also said that Pakistan had no role to play in Taliban’s seizing power in Afghanistan, saying that the neighbouring country has never “interfered” in their affairs.
Mujahid further said that Pakistan and India should sit together to resolve their issues, adding that Taliban wishes to build good ties with all the countries, including India.
The former Vice President of Afghanistan, who has vowed to not leave the country, and neither to surrender to the Taliban, said that for the Taliban Pakistan is not just a sanctuary, but is their “support base”.
Regarding the government formation issue in Afghanistan, the Taliban spokesperson went ahead and said that the insurgent group want a government that is strong and based on Islam and of which all Afghans are a part of.
Moreover, Mujahid also informed that the Taliban won’t be allowing the Afghan soil to be used against any other country. He added that Taliban have seized control of all areas, “restoring peace and normalcy in the war-torn country”.
However, many news outlets have reported about the ongoing brutal events and activities being imposed in Afghanistan and on the disheartened people.
