Ishita Bora: The first look of the Indian filmmaker Chinmoy Barma’s upcoming Assamese horror short film “Jokhini” has triggered many viewers with awe.
Just after completing the shoot of his much-awaited short film “Ghorapak”, the filmmaker immediately announced his next project on social media.
As per the report, Jokhini will be released in 2021 and the team has already started working on it as the script is done and the teaser will be released by this year.
Barma, on his Facebook account, wrote:
“This time it was my mom who told me the tale of Jokhini. She used to tell me that she felt the presence of a heavenly being when I was in her womb. It is said, it comes to bless the child and some other said, it snatches the child from the mother. It was fascinating to me, then and even now. So why not a film on this topic? Here we go. The story is written beautifully. It will show the unity of two cultural beliefs. Can’t wait to get started on this project next year after GHORAPAK is out.”
Viewers are excited to watch the teaser of Jokhini, as Barma surprised everyone with the poster, where a lady, described as Jokhini (witch) staring at the viewers by holding a lamp with large snakes crawling on the ground.
As he said once that he likes to experiment with horror when it comes to creating films, we wish him and the team good luck for the forthcoming film.
