Guwahati News Desk: Assam Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday, November 5, announced several developments that are to be undertaken in and around the Kamakhya Devalaya located at the Nilachal Hills of Guwahati. CM Sarma informed that the newly-constructed road to the temple from Pandu will be inaugurated within two to three months.

“This will be the most beautiful motorable road in Guwahati along the Brahmaputra,” he added.

Also, a new road with escalators for the physically disabled will be constructed soon from the parking area up to the temple premises, the CM stated.

While inaugurating a solid waste processing plant at the Kamakhya Devalaya on Friday, he said, “I’m glad to have inaugurated a solid waste management plant at Maa Kamakhya Devalaya. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiates this plan. This would bolster efforts to keep the Shaktipeeth clean while turning waste into compost,” the CM tweeted on his official Twitter handle.

“The Kamakhya Devalaya Management Committee has set up the solid waste disposal plant with Rs 1 crore from its trust fund. The recycled waste, especially the plastic waste from the temple campus will be used to make incense sticks, fertilizer, etc. This is a major contribution for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,” the CM praised the Devalaya committee. The project was initiated five years ago as a part of the Swachta Abhiyan pilot scheme.

Further, the Assam government is taking steps to preserve the culture and heritage of the State, he added.
