The announcement was made by the PM while addressing the nation on Friday morning. He said, “We have decided to repeal all three farm laws, will begin the procedure at the Parliament session that begins this month.”
Urging the protesting farmers to return to their homes and to their families, the PM said, “I appeal to all the farmers who are part of the protest … to now return to your home, to your loved ones, to your farms, and family. Let’s make a fresh start and move forward.”
Modi added, “Whatever I did, I did for farmers. What I’m doing, is for the country. With your blessings, I never left out anything in my hard work. Today I assure you that I’ll now work even harder, so that your dreams, nation’s dreams can be realised.”
Moreover, Friday’s announcement is being considered as a huge victory for the farmers of India, as they had been protesting against and fighting hard for the repeal of what they called the “black laws” for over almost a year now.
