Guwahati News Desk: President Donald Trump on Tuesday has signed an order to ban transactions with eight Chinese apps over America’s national security.
The order stated that action is needed to “deal with the national emergency” caused by the “pervasiveness of the spread” of apps created and controlled in China.
The banned apps include Alipay, CamScanner, QQ Wallet, SHAREit, Tencent QQ, VMate, WeChat Pay, and WPS Office and will come into effect in 45 days from Tuesday.
Trump stressed India’s ban on the use of more than 200 Chinese connected software applications throughout the country.
Trump further said:
“The pace and pervasiveness of the spread in the United States of certain connected mobile and desktop applications and other software developed or controlled by persons China, to include Hong Kong and Macau (China), continue to threaten the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States.”
He added:
“At this time, action must be taken to address the threat posed by these Chinese connected software applications.”
