Sangita Dewri, Food Correspondent: Today’s recipe directly comes from my mom’s kitchen.Taro stems are not usually liked by everyone.So,to make it interesting she used to make it with sesame seeds. Its a very unique yet simple recipe. While the taro stems are spongy after being cooked, the addition of sesame seeds gives the dish a slightly nuttier taste.And the spices added just completes the dish.

Cooking time: 15 mins
Ingredients:
1. Taro stems 300 gms
2. Water 2 cups
3. Sesame seeds 5 tsp
4. Mustard seeds 2 tsp
5. Ginger root
6. Garlic 8 to 10 pods
7. Onion 2
8. Green chillies 4
9. Salt as required
10. Mustard oil 2 tsp
Process:
Firstly, soak the sesame seeds and mustard seeds in water for 1 hour. Then boil the taro stems.Wait until 3 whistles.Till then grind the sesame seeds, mustard seeds,ginger, garlic,green chillies and 1 onion altogether and make a fine paste. Take out the taro from cooker.Then heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion until brown.Add the sesame paste into the pan and fry till the oil separates,then add the boiled taro with some water.Cover the pan for 5 mins.
And your dish is ready. Serve in a bowl.
