Guwahati News Desk: Two militants were killed in an encounter between security forces and the ultras in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, on Wednesday.
The gunfights broke out in Goplapora and Pombay areas of the South Kashmir district.
The event was the result of a search operation that turned into an encounter in J&K’s Gopalpora area. The security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Gopalpora area following inputs about the presence of militants.
However, after the militants fired upon a party of security forces, which retaliated. Ultimately, the encounter resulted in a fight, in which two militants were killed.
As informed by the Inspector General of Police (Kashmir), Vijay Kumar, the Resistance Front (TRF) commander, Afaq Sikander, was among the two militants who were killed on Wednesday.
Moreover, another gunfight broke out in Pombay area of the district after security forces received inputs about the presence of militants there.
