Guwahati News Desk: A tragic incident took place during Diwali at the Nilambazar area of Karimganj district in Assam on Sunday where two sisters were allegedly raped by six persons. Assam Police already have arrested four accused related to the incident as an investigation is still going on to arrest the remaining two.
According to the sources, the victims who hail from Tripura had come to visit their mother who is undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. While returning, the sisters took a rented car. The driver took them to an isolated area during the journey and raped five others near Nilambazar.
The incident took place between the intervening nights of November 13-14. An FIR has been lodged against the six accused at Karimganj Police Station. Meanwhile, police officials have recovered evidence from the spot which will lead them to the other two.
